I'll Be Participating in the Vampire Books for Blood Drive 1-31 October 2016

From 1-31 October, Scott Burtness, author of Wisconsin Vampire, will be holding his third annual Vampire Books for Blood charity event to benefit the American Red Cross and the Canadian Blood Services. I'm honored to be part of this year's event.

For the month of October, I will donate 50% of my net royalties from every on-line sale of The Vampire Hunters, Vampyrnomicon, Dominion, and The Vampire Hunters Omnibus to The American Red Cross. This includes all sales from Amazon, CreateSpace, and Nook.

This is an incredibly worthy event and I hope all of you will participate. If you've already purchased my books, then please buy from one of the other writers involved in the event. For a list of those vampire writers who are also participating, please check here.

Apocalypse Monday

This week I've been writing a post-apocalyptic scene involving Harbin, China, and this picture reminded me of how I portrayed that city.

A slightly fantastical post-apocalyptic image.

Incident on Ironstone Lane and Other Horror Stories Is Published

It's official. Incident on Ironstone Lane and Other Horror Stories went live. I hope you enjoy the tour of the sick and demented portions of my mind.

If you do, please leave an Amazon review. It does not have to be anything elaborate. Just rate the anthology and provide a quick one sentence comment. The more reviews I get, the more Amazon will promote Incident on Ironstone Lane. And if you do like it, please let your friends know.
Many thanks.

Incident on Ironstone Lane and Other Horror Stories To Be Released 15 August

As promised, here are the details for the upcoming anthology Incident on Ironstone Lane and Other Horror Stories.

Over the years I've published a few non-zombie-themed short stories, my favorite of which is the torture porn classic "Incident on Ironstone Lane," as well as several stories that for one reason or another were never released. All those stories will soon be together in one collection. Incident on Ironstone Lane and Other Horror Stories will be published as an e-book available only on Kindle and will be sold for $0.99. The book is scheduled for release for 15 August, but you can pre-order it here.

The stories included in this anthology are:

"Incident on Ironstone Lane" – Tom Bowen has gone from one of the most recognized writers in horror to being a washed up loser. The only thing he cares about now is his wife, Brenda. When Tom returns home to find Brenda being raped by Wayne Hoskins, the town thug, something inside of him snaps. Tom develops a demented new interest and Wayne realizes how sick and twisted a horror writer can get.

"Denizens" – After a botched robbery attempt results in the death of the shop owner, Jack Randall and his friends try to evade the police by escaping through the sewers beneath Washington D.C. However, the justice that awaits them underground is much more horrific than anything humans could devise.

"Baby It’s Cold Outside" – Raymond Kim’s manhood has been stripped away by a shrew of a wife and a spoiled son who doesn’t respect him. Every day Raymond prays for death. When the family car goes off an isolated country road during a blizzard, leaving Raymond’s wife immobilized with a broken leg, he sees the perfect opportunity to get rid of his family with no one being the wiser.

"The Emblem" – Reptilian-like monsters invade Pennsylvania, quickly overpowering the National Guard and establishing a beachhead. With reinforcements still days away, Iraqi war veteran Steve Preston joins a local militia to repel the invaders. During his first contact with the enemy, Preston discovers the awful truth about the alien’s intentions.

"Entertainment of the Gods" – What if man did not shape his own destiny, but was merely a plaything of the Gods?

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” – When the Queen realizes that her vengeful stepdaughter Snow White wants to remove her and take over the kingdom, she has Karl the huntsman take Snow White into the forest to place her under a sleeping spell. The Queen’s attempts at keeping peace in the realm unravel when Snow White is befriended by seven unwanted misfits who come to her defense.

Considering all the rain we've had here in Florida the past three days, I thought this scene was appropriate.

Upcoming Events for 2016-2017

As I sat down this morning and looked through my calendar, I realized I had several events coming up over the next six months, some of which I have not posted about yet.

15 August -- Incident on Ironstone Lane: and Other Horror Stories, my non-zombie-themed anthology, will be released for Kindle only. Stay tuned for a cover reveal and information about the content.

October -- Throughout the month myself and several other vampire writers will be participating in the Vampire Books 4 Blood charity drive. I'll be blogging about this in more detail later, but in short 50% of the net profit of any copy of The Vampire Hunters trilogy sold on line in October will be donated to the American Red Cross.

7-9 October -- I'll be attending Spooky Empire at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida along with a group of other highly-talented writers. The up-to-date list of celebrity guests and writers attending this year can be found here.

16 October -- Hell Gate, the first in my young males-oriented Yong adult post-apocalypse series, is scheduled for release from Burning Willow Press. There is going to be a big event, with prizes, giveaways, and lots of other exciting stuff, so be sure to drop my blog and Facebook pages for the latest updates.

15 October -- From 1:30 to 2:00 PM CST (2:30 to 3:00 PM EST), I will be attending Tj Weeks' book launch for  his latest zombie novel The Horror Squad: Book 3.

20 November -- I'll be making my second appearance at Clermont Comic Con at the Performing Arts Center in Clermont, Florida. This year's guests include comic book creators George Perez and Chuck Dixon, voice actor Dimitri Diatchenko of Fallout 4, and Tyler Cravens of Netflix's Bloodline and Sleepy Hollow. This convention is getting more popular as years go by, but at the moment it's still small enough for fans to meet and get some face time with their favorite celebrities.

January 2017 (TBD) -- On either 14 or 28 January, I will be attending Dreadfest 2017 at the W.T. Bland Public Library in Mount Dora, Florida. This one-day event is designed to showcase the dark side of fiction writing and includes writing contests, panels, and book signings. I'll be posting more on this event later in the year.

Apocalypse Monday

There has been a lot of talk about whether either candidate is qualified enough to have their finger on the nuclear button, so I guess it the choosing of today's artwork was inevitable.
