I'll Be Off Line for Approximately Two Weeks

I found out this morning that my father, who is in his late 70s and has been struggling with dementia for years, has entered his final losing battle with the disease. I'm flying up tomorrow afternoon to say goodbye and to mourn with my family, and won't be back until 10 May. I will post updates on my Facebook page, mostly for family and friends who knew my father but are unable to be there. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

My Interview With This Is Carl's Brain

Recently Carl Alves sat down with me and discussed my career with the Central Intelligence Agency (I didn't reveal any classified information), how it impacted my writing, my future projects, and who I would pick to portray Drake Matthews when The Vampire Hunters is turned into a movie or series. Please check out the interview here

Apocalypse Monday

I used to have this poster hanging on the wall in my office when I worked export controls for the CIA. When people asked what it was, I replied: "The price of failure."

Upcoming Appearances

Just a reminder that this Saturday, 9 April, I'll be a guest at the Alachua County Library District's 2nd Annual Fandomonium Comic Con. The event is being held at the Alachua County Library District Headquarters branch on West University Avenue in Gainesville from 10 AM to 5 PM. I'll be sitting on a panel titled "Comics Are for Everyone" from 2:30 to 3:30 in Meeting Room B. Throughout the day there will be other panels, games, costume contests, activities, and special guests--including illustrators Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti as well as writer Meredith Ann Pierce.

Also, on Sunday 20 November I'll be attending the Clermont Comic Con. I'll post more information on that as the date gets closer.
